Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk: “I’m going to win the Heisman”

We like Lache Seastrunk. The Baylor running back is a big-play threat every time he touches the ball. He finished the season with some huge performances for the Bears once they decided to use him into a featured role.

And after Seastrunk's interview with The Sporting News, we like him even more.

Seastrunk wasn't shy about his goal for the 2013 season.

"I'm going to win the Heisman," Seastrunk told SN. "I'm going to win it in 2013. If I don't, I'm going to get very close.

"I'm shooting for that goal. I will gladly say it."

Nothing like a little confidence.

The odds won't be with Seastrunk winning the Heisman, especially since this year's winner Johnny Manziel will be back next season. But Seastrunk is a special back. His 76-yard touchdown after pulling his hamstring at midfield convinced us of that. His total yardage from scrimmage in his last five games this season was 194, 102, 186, 136 and 178 yards. He had a monster game against Kansas State to lead Baylor's upset of the Wildcats. He'll have a chance to make a bigger name for himself in the Holiday Bowl against UCLA.

"I feel like there's no back who can do what I do," Seastrunk said, according to SN. "I know I'm the fastest back in the country. I know I'm the best back in the country. Nobody's going to work harder."

What's wrong with a little swagger? There's no reason he can't win the Heisman next year. As we all know, the only players who have no hope of winning it are defensive players.
