Auburn QB Nick Marshall cited for marijuana possession

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was cited Friday for possession of marijuana less than one ounce in the town of Reynolds, Ga., which is located about 90 miles east of Auburn.

According to reports, Marshall’s car was pulled over early Friday afternoon for a possible window tinting violation. Officers smelled marijuana, but found only residue less than an ounce. Marshall was cited, but not arrested.

Coach Gus Malzahn issued a statement acknowledging the citation.

“I’m aware of the situation that happened earlier today with Nick. I’m very disappointed and I will address it with him accordingly.”

Marshall is scheduled to attend SEC media days next week.

Marshall led Auburn to a 12-2 record, which included an SEC title and a berth in the BCS National Championship game. Marshall, a Georgia transfer, finished with 1,976 passing yards, 1,068 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns last season.
