Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel, who was arrested for burglary on Wednesday, has been dismissed from the team.

Daniel, DeNorris James, a walk-on to the football team this spring, and Khalil Sellers, a former Auburn track athlete, were arrested on theft and burglary charges after an investigation into missing items from several dorm rooms following spring break.

Daniel was charged with four counts of theft, including first-degree theft of an item worth at least $2,500 or anything taken from another person. He also was booked on four counts of burglary. Six of the counts are felonies.

Daniel, a junior-to-be, played in 13 games last season, including two starts. He tied for the team-lead with 17 quarterback hurries and finished with 15 tackles, including one sack. He was expected to play a pivotal role in Will Muschamp’s new offense and even added 19 pounds this offseason to contribute at defensive tackle.
