4-star commit Desean Holmes 'MIA' at San Diego State

San Diego State coaches don't know where the prized recruit of their 2015 recruiting class is.

Aztecs coach Rocky Long said Tuesday that wide receiver Desean Holmes is "MIA."

“We cannot find him,” Long said via the San Diego Union-Tribune. “The kid won’t answer his phone, won’t call us back. We don’t know where he is.”

We reached out to San Diego State on Wednesday afternoon for any update to Holmes' status and didn't hear back.

Holmes was a four-star recruit from San Fernando, California. He was the No. 26 wide receiver in the class of 2015 and the No. 38 prospect in the state. He had originally committed to USC but decommitted in December and signed with San Diego State.

According to the Union-Tribune, SDSU staff talked to Holmes three weeks ago. And he and his family have not returned calls since then. Long did say that he was not worried for Holmes' safety.

Long's comments about Holmes likely remind you of another San Diego State player who broke contact from the football world. Former running back Adam Muema declared for the 2014 NFL draft and left the combine without working out because he thought he'd be picked by the Seattle Seahawks by not participating. When he left, his whereabouts were briefly unknown.

Muema was not selected in the NFL draft and his social media accounts referenced Rayel, someone who claims to be the second coming of Jesus and issues apocalyptic warnings. He was believed to be in Mexico in May of 2014.
