Idaho State guard sinks 88 footer just before the halftime buzzer

Almost nothing was going right Thursday night for Idaho State when guard Chris Hansen secured the ball seconds before halftime with the Bengals trailing visiting Sacramento State 29-18.

But Hansen found an unlikely way to elevate his teammates' spirits entering halftime, banking in an 88 footer at the first half buzzer.

It's a stretch to say Hansen's miracle shot swung momentum in favor of the Bengals since they still trailed by 10 seven minutes into the second half, but those three points eventually did come in handy. Tomas Sanchez's layup with 2.5 seconds left gave Idaho State a 60-59 victory after the Bengals used a 13-5 spurt midway through the second half to get back within striking distance.

"I just saw a lane, I took it and luckily the shot went in," Sanchez told ISUBengals.com. "Our team showed a lot heart. We never got down on ourselves even though we played bad in the first half. This is big. We can't stop here. We just have to keep going."

The victory was a rare bright spot for Idaho State. The Bengals are 4-12, though they've won three out of four with the lone loss coming to Big Sky-leading Weber State.
