Buzzer beater: Cincinnati defeats Bama while Tide fans weren’t paying attention

No. 17 Cincinnati remained unbeaten in thrilling fashion when Cashmere Wright hit a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer to hand Alabama its first loss of the season.

Chances are only the most dedicated Crimson Tide basketball fans watched the disappointing end unfold because it happened during the first quarter of the SEC football championship game between Alabama and Georgia.

Wright's shot was all the more impressive because he splashed it through the net over the lengthy arm of 7-foot center Moussa Gueye after taking the inbound pass near midcourt and driving down the left side of the lane before letting it fly.

The Bearcats improved to 7-0 despite shooting .182 behind the arc. It was only the second time in the young season Cincinnati won a game by fewer than 10 points.

Wright wasn't the only hero for Cincinnati. Moments before his dramatic game winner, Justin Jackson blocked a shot from Alabama's Trevor Releford that might have won the game.
