Breakfast Buffet: Indiana aims to break lengthy losing streak at Michigan State

1. Even though Tom Crean has rebuilt Indiana into a national power during his tenure in Bloomington, there are several goals the Hoosiers coach has yet to accomplish. Among the most important to him is snapping Indiana's 17-game losing streak at Michigan State, a streak that dates all the way back to 1991. Crean and the top-ranked Hoosiers will take aim at that goal Tuesday night in a marquee game with first place in the Big Ten at stake.

2. Does Mississippi State even have enough players to field a team at this point? The school suspended sophomore forward Roquez Johnson indefinitely Monday as a result of a violation of team rules. As a result the Bulldogs could have just five scholarship players and two walk-ons for Wednesday's game at Alabama unless junior guard Jalen Steele is reinstated from suspension for the matchup against the Crimson Tide.

3. One of the best pieces of the weekend came from Kansas City Star columnist Sam Mellinger, who profiled the 15-year-old son of former Kansas City high school phenom and UCLA star Jaron Rush. The elder Rush has turned his life around after issues with alcohol derailed a promising career. Now Shea Rush is hoping to avoid the same mistakes and forge a path for himself, maybe in basketball or maybe in another walk of life.

4. The Missouri Valley Conference disciplined the officiating crew from Sunday night's Wichita State-Illinois State game because it awarded free throws to the wrong player after Jackie Carmichael's karate kick flagrant foul in the final minute of the game. As he leaped for a rebound, Carmichael kicked Wichita State's Tekele Cotton in the chest, but it was Cleanthony Early who referees sent to the free throw line. Early sank both foul shots, igniting an 8-0 Wichita State run for a stunning 68-67 victory.

5. Bob Knight's run as an ESPN analyst may end very soon. According to the Big Lead, the former Indiana coach's contract expires at the end of this season and the network is not expected to renew it. Knight appears to have assumed a less high-profile role this season, perhaps a good thing considering his struggles deciphering the shot clock from the game clock during the broadcast of game at Vanderbilt earlier this season.

Before the rioting and the bonfires began after Maryland's victory over Duke on Saturday, Terps students did something productive during a first-half timeout: Maybe the season's best flash mob. The choreography and execution is simple but effective. Plus bonus points for the shot of a confused-looking Scott Van Pelt early in the video.
