The Golden State Warriors have yet to set a target date for coach Steve Kerr’s return to the sideline. The coach that led them to 2015’s championship has yet to run his team through game action this year due to the ongoing setbacks he suffered when his second offseason back surgery necessitated a spinal tap.

Kerr has traveled with the team and remains a presence, but his aversion to light and the perpetual headaches that came from the spinal tap has thus far prevented him from running the show full time.

Still, when you see “Cleveland” on the calendar, you tend to circle the date. Kerr traveled with the team to its Finals rematch with LeBron’s Cavaliers, and during Monday’s practice he decided to show off some of the marksmanship that made him one of the NBA’s all-time greats from beyond the arc.

Sometimes well, well beyond the arc. Via CBS Sports:

The Warriors are, in terms relative to their pace, working through a low point in the season. The squad’s players are healthy, but they’ve lost two of three games (shock horror!) after a 36-2 start to the season. This still puts them on pace for a 74-win season – this team has still won over 90 percent of its games! – but times are tough. And with a smarting LeBron and Co. coming in off a tough road trip, prospects figure to become much tougher.

This is why it’s good to have your ailing yet beloved official head coach and his ability to hit under-handed 47-foot bank shots around, warming up an otherwise chilly road arena in the middle of January.

Get well soon, Steve. We need to see you get all net on the next one.
