Kristaps Porzingis met with Crying Kid from last year's NBA draft
With all that is giddy these days in Knick-ville, it seemed only a matter of time before rookie Kristaps Porzingis and the young man who is dubbing himself ‘CryingKnicksFan’ on social media did the inevitable.

Porzingis, whose NBA arrival was met with boos and tears from the child on NBA draft night last June, met with him prior to Sunday’s Knick win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Apparently just owning Porzingis’ jersey just wasn’t enough:
Apparently another of Kristaps' brothers set the meeting up.
Porzingis finished the contest with 15 points, five blocks and six rebounds in just 30 minutes. His performance in the 100-88 win also included some highlight plays as seen above. Knick All-Star Carmelo Anthony was amongst those awed by the sight of the 20-year old’s play. From the Associated Press:
Kristaps Porzingis leaped from one side of the rim, extended his arm as far as his 7-foot-3 frame would allow to grab the missed shot, and dunked the ball from the other side.
''Only somebody like him could make that play, make that dunk,'' Carmelo Anthony said.

We’ve always felt a little dubious about the Crying Kid meme, mindful of the fact that dating back to the 1980s New York fans have known that they could live on in SportsCenter infamy for ages by reacting vociferously to an unexpected NBA or (especially, with the draft in New York every spring) NFL draft pick. The Porzingis pick wasn’t exactly unexpected, though, even if his age at the time (19) doesn’t exactly match up well with his 30-something teammate in Carmelo Anthony. Most think Crying Kid was coached, and Porzingis was a professional right out of the gate in discussing that night.
Hey, coaching or not, it gave the kid a chance to meet someone who (at absolute worst) is the NBA’s second-best rookie this year, a chance to trod the boards at Madison Square Garden, and tickets to yet another Knick win.
Maybe we should tell all our kids to go practice cutting up onions.
