KCAL pays tribute to the end of its 35-year partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers (VIDEO)

Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers signed a deal with Time Warner Cable to create the team's own television station. It was a move that could net the Laker franchise profit well into the billions, but also one that would end the team's relationship with Fox Sports West, and its 35-year-old partnership with KCAL locally. With Tuesday's Game 5 (one in which the Lakers will be heavily favored to take their first-round series, while playing at home) set for FSW, KCAL decided to roll out a postgame video paying tribute to the longstanding broadcast with the team. It's a pretty touching take, and worth your viewing, even if you've seen some of the clips before:

If anything, the video mostly pays tribute to the effortless swing of former Laker play-by-play man Chick Hearn, who passed away in 2002. The Lakers are in more than capable hands as they switch to Time Warner, with Bill MacDonald and Stu Lantz at the helm; but I'm sure they'll be the first to tell you (though why would you ask them first?) that Hearn was the absolute best at describing that sort of end-to-end Laker action.

I can speak for all longtime League Pass diehards that I'm glad that setup came into existence while Chick Hearn was still laying it down; giving us a few seasons to take in what Southern California had known for years.
