Charles Barkley slams basically everything about the woeful Suns

The Phoenix Suns have lost 23 of their last 26 games. They have been arguably the NBA's worst team since the start of December, and inarguably its worst — like, far and away, on both ends of the floor — since the calendar flipped to 2016, posting double-digit losses to the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers, the other three worst teams in the league, in a three-week span. Their three top scorers are hurt, with two done for the season; their head coach and his top assistants have been fired; the organization, which seemed so full of promise 18 months ago, once again looks bereft and adrift.

Just how bad are things in Phoenix these days? After a 111-105 loss to the Houston Rockets at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Thursday night, TNT commentator and former Suns great Charles Barkley ran through the list, and ran down the franchise, in his inimitable way:

"Hang in there, Jeff," Barkley said." You'll get another chance with a real NBA team."

"Look at them empty seats, man," he continued. "The best fans in the world get to watch this trash."

That's when colleagues Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal decided it was time to start egging him on, getting Chuck to slam everything from the concessions in the arena to the weather in Phoenix to (naturally and regrettably) the cheerleaders on the sidelines.

"I just feel bad," Barkley said. "The reason I live in Phoenix is they got the best fans in the world, and they deserve better than they're getting right now."

"So you could have just said that," host Ernie Johnson quipped.

Sure. But then, that wouldn't be Chuck, would it?

At one point during Barkley's rant, EJ noted that he was "burning that Phoenix bridge." Somehow, we don't think Charles is particularly concerned about whether he's going to get invited to watch the Suns any time soon.
