Blake Griffin bangs put-back dunk on teammate Ryan Hollins in Clippers’ loss to Grizzlies (Video)
Blake Griffin is grabbing the lowest share of available offensive rebounds of his four-year NBA career, but clearly, the Los Angeles Clippers' All-Star power forward can still go up and get it off the offensive glass. Just ask teammate Ryan Hollins, who found out firsthand midway through the fourth quarter of Monday's matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies:
Solid awareness, Ryan. (Here's where we note that Hollins is also putting up the lowest offensive rebounding rate of his career, for the sake of jokes. And here's where we note that Doc Rivers teams never emphasize the offensive glass, for the sake of avoiding getting nit-picked by folks who hate jokes.)
Congratulations to Hollins on joining the ranks of Mike Dunleavy, Andre Miller and the many others who've found themselves bearing the weight of a higher-flying teammate on their backs in the middle of a put-back dunk. At least this bit of Clipper-on-Clipper dunking didn't result in you getting a bone bruise, like when you tried to ring up then-teammate Lou Amundson during a scrimmage, or in Hollins getting slammed by the ball, like when DeAndre Jordan threw down a Darren Collison lob so hard that it smacked Collison right in the chops.
And never forget, it could be worse — you could be Timofey Mozgov, Kendrick Perkins or Pau Gasol. Always look on the bright side of life, Mr. Hollins' Opus.
For those of us who'd rather focus on the tip jam, though, here's the best shot I've seen encapsulating the friendly-fire posterization:

The put-back was one of Griffin's five offensive boards on a night that saw him score a team-high 23 points and grab 11 rebounds in 33 minutes, but as was the case back in May, he and Jordan (8 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks) were outdueled by the Memphis interior tandem of Zach Randolph (26 points, 15 boards) and Marc Gasol (23 points, nine rebounds, eight assists) as the Grizzlies earned a 106-102 win on Monday. It was the Clippers' first home loss of the season, it came with the Grizzlies on the second game of a back-to-back, and Memphis operated largely without top perimeter defender Tony Allen, who was ejected in the early going for kicking Chris Paul in the face. A very nice road win for the Grizzlies, and a home defeat that the Clippers might rather forget. (Some more than others.)
