Georges St. Pierre to Johny Hendricks - 'Stick around.'

New UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks says that he won't call out future opponents, except for...Georges St. Pierre. The former welterweight kingpin won a controversial decision over Hendricks late last year and then took a leave of absence from competition shortly after.

St. Pierre, perhaps weary of hearing his name come out of Hendricks' mouth, recently reacted to his rival's egging him on to come back and rematch him.

"Listen, stick around for a bit and keep the title," Georges St. Pierre said during an interview with MMA Fighting.

"We'll see what's going to happen in the sport. If some things change, maybe we'll get together again."

Lest that chiding be misinterpreted as a tease of a sure and soon-coming return for St. Pierre, GSP went on to clarify that he's happily retired at the moment. "For now, I don't want to do it," he said.

"I needed to step out and stay out of the radar. That's one of the things I said. I didn't know if it was going to be six months, a year, a year and a half, I don't know. But right now, I don't feel like coming back right now. It's not right for me."

St. Pierre detailed a gradual but recent loss of motivation as an explanation for his leave.

"When I fought Carlos Condit, I was really hungry," St. Pierre remembered.

"When I fought Diaz, I was not as much hungry. When I fought Hendricks, my training camp, I was even less hungry, and I felt like I needed to step out to get some time to see if I want to do this or not again."

St. Pierre is not doing a great job of "staying out of the radar" thus far during his leave of absence from competition, but hopefully he's getting well-deserved rest and recovery. Only time will tell if he'll ever regain the hunger to fight again.
