Cher tweets support for Nick Diaz after his five-year ban for marijuana usage

UFC fighter Nick Diaz’s five-year suspension for marijuana is getting a lot of attention.

Marijuana is being discussed more frequently and with more tolerance than at any other time in history. States are legalizing (or talking about legalizing) and politicians are using their thoughts on the drug as a regular talking point heading into the 2016 presidential elections.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission gave their thoughts on the drug and people were shocked at the half-decade exile. After all, Nevada has dealt with repeat steroid abusers and been far more lenient with them in years past.

Incensed fans and advocates immediately petitioned through WhiteHouse.gov to have the ruling examined.

Other fighters like Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather scolded the NSAC for their decision.

Now, having advocates, fans, and your fighting family on your side is one thing; but what about when a generational superstar with a few million Twitter followers goes to bat for you?

Cher seems to be keeping up with social issues, giving recent thoughts on ISIS, Jeb Bush, Donald Trump and gun violence in America. So, it comes as no surprise that one of the most beloved icons of the '60s has an opinion about marijuana.

The White House petition still needs more than 30,000 signatures before it can be officially looked at.

We’re pretty sure a plug from Cher is going to help with that.
