Bills coach Rex Ryan: Ronda Rousey 'might be the baddest person on the planet'

In anticipation for the Buffalo Bills' first day of padded practice, head coach Rex Ryan wanted to treat his team to a real show of strength, so he took his players to a viewing party to watch MMA’s most dominant fighter.

“Ronda Rousey might be the baddest person on the planet,” Ryan said to reporters on Tuesday.

“Problem was though, a bunch of us wanted to go watch the fight and [we] thought the fight was going to be at 10 o’clock. [And] the fight doesn’t happen until like 1:30. [a.m.]. Thirty seconds later, it was over at 1:30.”

Rousey, of course, finished her opponent Bethe Correia off in 34 seconds at UFC 190 on Saturday in Brazil. She left “The Pitbull” face down on the canvas after a succession of punches, culminating with a loopy hook that connected with the side of Correia’s head.

It was Rousey's 11th first-round finish in 12 fights.

“She’s pretty impressive,” admitted Ryan. “She reminds me of Mike Tyson when Mike would enter the ring and you knew you were gonna get crushed.”

Ryan knows a thing or two about being crushed; after back-to-back AFC Championship appearances with the New York Jets in ’09 & ’10, Ryan failed to make the playoffs over the last four seasons.

Last year, his Jets went 4-12, finishing dead last in the AFC East, and he was subsequently fired. Now, he is trying to regain his winning ways in Buffalo.

Perhaps Ryan can make a call to Rousey’s people and get the champ to motivate a franchise who has yet to win a Super Bowl.
