Young serves up Bonds's first bomb of "07

SAN FRANCISCO – Barry Bonds homered to left-center field in the first inning Wednesday night against the San Diego Padres, his first home run of the season and the 735th of his career.

With two out and none on, Bonds drove a 2-and-2 fastball from Padres right-hander Chris Young 395 feet to give the San Francisco Giants a 1-0 lead.

When Bonds took his place in left field in the top of the second, he was rewarded with a standing ovation from the left-field bleachers and those seated along the left-field line.

Young became the 435th different pitcher to allow a Bonds home run. Bonds is 20 home runs behind all-time leader Hank Aaron.
