Sorority selfie girls reject D-backs ticket offer, want to help abuse victims instead

Despite their love of selfies, it turns out the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega at Arizona State University don't just care about themselves. The sorority sisters — who were featured in a now-viral video from Wednesday night's Arizona Diamondbacks game — turned down an offer for free tickets to another game and instead have asked the ballclub and the TV network that gave them 15 minutes of fame to donate tickets to a charity that helps domestic violence victims.

Point, Alpha Chi Omega.

If you missed the original story, a quick reset: The girls were at a meaningless D-backs game against the Colorado Rockies when the TV cameras caught them taking an abundance of selfies. Announcers Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly poked fun at them for the better part of two minutes, essentially pointing to them as everything that's wrong with millennials.

The video spread all around the Internet and reaction was split: To some, it was funny social commentary from the TV crew. To others, they were picking on these girls for doing nothing but enjoying themselves at a baseball game.

The ladies of Alpha Chi Omega didn't come out and complain, but when the Diamondbacks and Fox Sports Arizona offered them more tickets, they had a better idea:

Alpha Chi Omega at Arizona State University would like to thank the Arizona Diamondbacks and Fox Sports for reaching out...

That cause is certainly more important than 100 selfies or a September baseball game between two teams already eliminated from postseason play. Bravo there, ladies, nice spin.
