Sergio Romo will not face criminal charges after incident at Las Vegas airport
Updating a legal item, San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo will not face criminal charges stemming from his New Year’s Day run-in with a Transportation Security Administration official.
This new comes courtesy of TMZ, who first reported the Clark County District Attorney’s office would not prosecute the case early Monday.
The incident, which took place at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, happened before Romo could board his scheduled Jan. 1 flight. It’s reported Romo was unable to provide sufficient identification to clear security. This led to a confrontation with the TSA official in which Romo exhibited belligerent behavior, possibly — though not confirmed — because he was under the influence of alcohol.
Romo was immediately detained by TSA officials and taken to the airport's police station where he was cited for a misdemeanor. He was later escorted off airport grounds.

The Associated Press reported that a screening panel used prosecutorial discretion to drop the case, according to the Clark County District Attorney's office.
Romo had been scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 12 and faced the possibility of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
It seems Romo can now enter his first full season as Giants closer with a clear mind. Last season, Romo excelled in that role to close out San Francisco’s championship run, converting 14 out of 15 regular season save opportunities. And he was even better in the postseason, allowing only one run in 10 and two-thirds innings.
In other words, you can safely pencil him near the top of your fantasy baseball reliever rankings.
Also, Romo should be safe to resume attending professional wrestling events on the west coast.
