Rogers Clemens returns to Fenway Park, takes in game from Monster Seats

Oh my goodness gracious.

Of all the dramatic things I've ever seen, Rogers Clemens is standing ... er, sitting in the Monster Seats at Fenway Park?

It's true. Just four days after being acquitted on three counts of making false statements, two counts of perjury and one count of obstruction, Roger Clemens was out and about in Boston on Friday night, taking in the Atlanta Braves 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Clemens was seated somewhat comfortably in the front row of the Monster Seats, where Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports the former Red Sox great was flanked by a significant amount of security.

Before the fourth inning began, a video message acknowledging Clemens' presence was shown on Fenway Park's center field scoreboard. When Clemens himself appeared on the board, he received a mixed reaction from the Boston faithful, though it sounded like there were more boos than cheers.

Or at least those booing were more passionate and vocal than those cheering.

The public appearance is Clemens' first since his acquittal. It's also the first time he's visited Fenway this season. In April, he was invited to attend the Red Sox 100-year anniversary celebration, but turned it down because his son Kacy was playing in a high school baseball tournament back in Texas.

Judging by the reception he received on Friday night, it's probably for the best that he didn't appear on the field at that time, and it might be a good idea for the Red Sox to hold off for awhile if they had any plans to honor Clemens in the near future.
