Reports: Matt Garza traded to Texas Rangers in five-player deal that includes Mike Olt

Matt Garza watch looks to have reached its end.

After stalling on a Friday deal that would have sent Garza — one of the top starting pitchers in the trade market — from the Chicago Cubs to the Texas Rangers, the two sides now appear to have reached an agreement.

Garza was scratched from his scheduled Monday start for the Cubs (as first reported by Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal), then the details started to unravel. According to reports from Rosenthal and Yahoo! Sports' own Jeff Passan, the Cubs will get three players back, including Mike Olt, a third baseman who was the 22nd ranked prospect in baseball heading into this season. Olt, however, has struggled this season, hitting a combined .219/.318/.438 in Double-A and Triple-A.

Garza is 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.14 WHIP for the Cubs after missing the first chunk of the season due to the injury. He made his debut May 21 and has struck out 62 batters in 71 innings. He now joins a Rangers pitching rotation that has been riddled with injuries to Yu Darvish, Alexi Ogando and Matt Harrison, among others.
