Rangers using quote from Astros pitcher as clubhouse motivation

The rivalry between MLB's two Texas ballclubs is heating up. It started when frustrated Houston Astros reliever Ken Giles told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart on Monday following a 6-5 loss to the Texas Rangers: "We have more talent than this team does. That's what I believe and we shouldn't be losing these types of ballgames. We're going to go out there tomorrow and put them to the ground."

Those comments could definitely be construed as inflammatory and it appeares Texas took it as such. Look what showed up on a video board in the Rangers' clubhouse on Tuesday:

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News writes that the board is usually reserved for "club announcements or scheduling notices," and that it's the first time an opposing player's quote have appeared there.

The American League West-leading Rangers are eight games up on the Astros heading into Tuesday night's game in Arlington, but they're clearly still searching for any motivation they can find to stay on top.
