President Barack Obama's second term is coming to an end in a few months. Like many former Presidents, he'll retire and move out of the spotlight, but continue to do productive things. New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter hasn't held political office ... yet ... but he can certainly empathize with what Obama will experience in a few months.

The two talked about that topic in an upcoming interview on Jeter's website, The Players' Tribune. The full interview is set to run Wednesday, but the site released a snippet of the conversation in order to promote the article. In the clip, President Obama takes the opportunity to roast Jeter over his late-career performance.

Here's a full transcript of the exchange:

Obama: "Derek, you are now somebody who now has some experience in hanging up the cleats. I'm about to retire. I'm not quite as young as you, but still relatively young.

Jeter: "Thank you, can you repeat that? Because when you're in sports, they say you're old at 30, so thank you. I appreciate that.

Obama: "I mean, for a baseball player, you were old. Let's face it, I mean, c'mon, man. We saw you trying to run around those bases."

Ouch! Obviously the exchange wasn't mean-spirited, and both Jeter and Obama laugh about the whole thing.

And ... uh ... let's face it, Jeter wasn't really swiping any bags over his final seasons. A big part of that was likely due to a broken ankle he suffered during the 2012 playoffs. Jeter's speed and stolen base totals had already taken a hit due to age, but that injury pretty much ended any threat of him taking an extra base.

Jeter seems to take the whole thing in stride, but we're kind of hoping he sarcastically drops a "thanks, Obama" when the full interview is released Wednesday.
