Peoria Chiefs baseball team aids tornado relief with auction and donation drive
A tornado that killed eight people in Illinois and Michigan also left in its wake incalculable damage, and the Peoria Chiefs are trying to help the survivors.
The Chiefs, a Class A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals that plays in the Midwest League, are collecting donated items at Dozer Park anytime Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT. What could you send them?
Bottled water, non-perishable food, clothes, blankets, baby formula and regular household items such as: toilet paper, soap, shampoo.
In other words, all kinds of stuff we take for granted.
For those unable to send items, donate money through the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
The Chiefs also will be having an online auction to help the Illinois towns of Pekin and Washington, which were hit particularly hard by the storm. Many Chiefs employees, fans of the team and host families live there and need help to rebuild their lives:
So far we have auction items from: The St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Casino Queen St. Louis, Pro Image Peoria and many former Peoria Chiefs players. Any item your organization can donate will be greatly appreciated and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Central Illinois Tornado Relief Fund through the American Red Cross
