Neil Diamond leads Fenway Park crowd in singing of ‘Sweet Caroline’ (video)

"Sweet Caroline" is the song most closely associated with the Boston Red Sox, and all week long we've heard it played in stadiums all across the country (even Yankee Stadium) as a tribute to the city of Boston.

On Saturday, Neil Diamond, the man who originally wrote and performed the song, flew into Boston from his California home unannounced and on his own dime to lead the 35,152 on hand at Fenway Park in one very special rendition.

It was pretty much awesome.

OK, so maybe it wasn't the most fluid rendition you'll hear, but the amazing crowd at Fenway Park stole the show with their energetic participation and it was certainly cool to see Diamond himself show up to lead the crowd.

It was one of several feel good moments on an incredible day at Fenway. From the moving pregame ceremony and the entire crowd singing the national anthem, to David Ortiz's colorful speech, and even Daniel Nava's go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning that helped Boston secure the 4-3 victory. Emotions were high and spirits were even higher when all was said and done.

The entire day also served as a great reminder that we will always bounce back in the face of adversity and tragedy. And when we do, we'll always be better, stronger and more united than we were before.
