Angry Mets fan brings 'Chase Utley Hearts ISIS' sign to NLDS Game 3

This may shock you: New York Mets fans were not happy to see Chase Utley on Monday night at NLDS Game 3. As the series moved to Queens, all eyes have been on Utley, the Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman, who broke Mets' shortstop Ruben Tejada's leg on a brutal take-out slide in Game 2.

And while we wholeheartedly expected a bird-flipping New York welcome for Utley, even we were surprised by one fan's sign that read, "Chase Utley Hearts ISIS." Wowzers.

Yep, it was that kinda night in New York. The New York Post caught up with the fan who had the Chase Utley/ISIS sign. Her name was Ashleigh Culpepper, a 22-year-old from North Carolina who now lives in Manhattan. She told The Post:

“My guess is Isis doesn’t want to be associated with Chase Utley,” she said, calling him, “my least favorite player ever.”

As for the rest of Citi Field, there were other, tamer signs and lots of boos. Both of which were to be expected. Utley wasn't in the Dodgers' starting lineup, but he got an on-field introduction and Mets fans let him hear it.

The Mets fans thirsty for blood could have at least been happy that the Mets' offense poured it on the Dodgers early, running up a 10-3 lead. They weren't, though. In the fifth inning, even with a seven-run lead, fans were chanting, "We Want Utley!"
