Marcus Stroman shows off his rap skills on Mike Stud's new album

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman has already established himself as one of the coolest young stars in MLB and now that résumé is getting a boost as he's dropped a verse on the new album from rapper/singer Mike Stud while also starring in Stud's latest video.

In his foray into hip-hop bar-dropping, Stroman mentions his comeback from ACL surgery, references AL MVP Josh Donaldson and drops the line, "I been on a mission / To make every single doubter eat their words up in their kitchen."

There's a relevant baseball connection here: Stud (no related to Big John) was a Duke teammate of Stroman's under his proper name, Mike Seander. Stud's new album, "These Days" released Tuesday, and spent a good portion of the day as the top rap album on iTunes. He's got a Drake-type flow that's better than what you're probably expecting from an ex-college baseball player. There's also a baseball influence, since the second track is titled "10th Inning."

Not bad, huh? Stroman's obviously a better pitcher than rapper, but he didn't embarrass himself here. Here's the proper video for "These Days," in which Stroman doesn't rap, but is the star (also NSFW):
