Kanye West borrows AT&T Park to propose marriage to Kim Kardashian

It's a good thing the San Francisco Giants decided not to play in the World Series this season, or else Kanye West and Kim Kardashian might not be engaged yet. Word from E! is that Kanye rented out AT&T Park on Monday night in order to propose marriage to the mother of his child. Imagine that — the site of Barry Bonds' cherished, record-breaking 756th career home run becoming the setting for what amounts to a Hollywood publicity stunt! And it's probably the first time anyone's ever proposed marriage at 24 Willie Mays Plaza, too, those lucky celebrities.

At this time a season ago, the Giants were wrapping up the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Kanye lucked out this year. With his Yeezus tour set to hit San Jose on Tuesday night, and the Giants sitting at home like 25 bridesmaids after the St. Louis Cardinals knocked out the Dodgers to replace them as NL reps, the ballpark happened to be free.

This San Francisco Chronicle columnist was either there, or had spies watching:

Hopefully they were shouting, "The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!" all along. So what does it cost to rent out the ballpark to yourself? Only $200,000. But that's just the building, probably. It probably cost Kanye at least another couple of hundred bucks for beer and champagne. And $50 bucks a throw for the musicians.

No word if there were kayakers in McCovey Cove waiting to catch the bouquet. Hey, this is only the engagement, kids!
