Juan Uribe pretends to steal fan's hot dog for mid-game snack

The vast majority of baseball games are more than two hours long, and during those hours and minutes baseball players are batting, pitching, running, standing, and watching. Sometimes they snack on sunflower seeds or trail mix, but don't you think they get hungry for more than than that? On Tuesday night, Cleveland Indians third baseman Juan Uribe almost got himself a very substantial mid-game snack.

The Indians were facing the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night, and designated hitter Adam Lind was batting against Indians pitcher Cody Anderson. Anderson delivered the first pitch of the at-bat to Lind, who swung and hit it foul behind him and high above the third base line. Uribe gave chase and followed the ball to the stands, but it landed a few rows in and he didn't have a chance to snag it.

Uribe slowed down and stopped once he hit first row of seats, and once the ball had landed, he saw something he wanted: the hot dog of a fan in the front row. While the fan was turned around to see where the ball had landed, Uribe reached down and pretended to take the fan's hot dog.

Once the gentleman realized what was happening, he picked up his hot dog, paper holder and all, and offered it to Uribe with a little smile on his face. Who wouldn't want Juan Uribe to take their hot dog and eat it on the field like it's an old-timey beer league baseball game?! Sadly, there was no vintage baseball reenactment. Uribe was just pretending, and he declined the fan's hot dog gift.

If Uribe really wanted a hot dog, we could have seen him make Doris Murphy's excellent play from "A League of Their Own" a reality.
