Jake Arrieta will bare it all in ESPN's 'Body Issue'

If you've been longing to see more of Jake Arrieta, I have some good news for you: soon you'll be seeing a lot more of him.

ESPN has revealed the 19 athletes that will shed their clothes for their annual "Body Issue," and among them is Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta. Arrietta's in good company; Bryce Harper, Matt Harvey, and Prince Fielder are all alumni of ESPN's "Body Issue." Harper even graced the cover last year.

Arrieta takes his health and fitness very seriously, and believes it's helped him attain elite status among today's pitchers. In May of 2015, Arrieta shared his detailed workout plan with ESPN's Jesse Rogers, which goes through the four days between each of his starts. His routine is no joke -- every single thing he does is geared toward making him stronger and more flexible so he can pitch well and avoid injuries during the long season.

While describing the plan, Arrieta revealed that he had just gotten two Pilates machines. Pilates ended up making such a difference to his fitness that he convinced the Cubs' front office that Pilates should be part of their team workouts. "I kind of brought Pilates to the Cubs" is what he told ESPN's Morty Ain back in April 2016.

In that Q&A with Ain, Arrieta also revealed how much he likes kale. He really, really likes it.

You know you get those bunches of kale at Whole Foods? There are probably 8-10 stalks of kale in there. I'd say I go through three of those a day. That might be about 3-4 lbs of kale.

No pictures from his naked photo shoot have emerged yet. Until that issue hits the internet on July 6 and physical newsstands on July 8, a brief, fleeting second from ESPN's promo video (which you can view here) is all the world gets to see.
