Giancarlo Stanton rebuffs Bryce Harper’s offer with funny observation

There has been no shortage of fans offering safe haven to Giancarlo Stanton should Jeffrey Loria slide into super-troll mode and heap his star player on the Miami Marlins' pyre this season. There also isn't a club among the other 29 teams that wouldn't take Stanton's services, and NL Rookie of the Year Bryce Harper put his Washington Nationals at the front of the line — tampering be damned! — with a Wednesday tweet toward his fellow young star.

Alas, Stanton later pointed out an unfortunate technicality in Harper's plan to spirit him away from Washington's denuded NL East rival: His last name spelled backward is "Not Nats." It's an astute observation, to be sure, but nothing that can't be fixed with Stanton's well-known proclivity to change his name.

Mike Dutsstan ("Nats Stud") has a certain ring to it, no?
