Giancarlo Stanton’s great catch shows he also knows his way around a glove (Video)

Darkness has fallen over the Miami Marlins. The team is 52-64, behind last year's pace of 55-61, when the team stumbled to 72 victories. They're holding down last place in the NL East and just started their week with a 4-0 loss to Cole Hamels and the Phillies on Monday. The rest of the season figures to feature many more losses as the team's youth movement gets plenty of playing time.

One of the lone rays of sunshine, however, is right fielder Giancarlo Stanton. He returned from knee surgery on Aug. 7, recorded a two-homer game a day later and then made this incredible catch during Monday night's defeat at Marlins Park.

That's really some incredible stuff and a reminder that the Marlins haven't been overrun by a wave of irrelevancy like other lower-tier teams. So long as Stanton and Jose Reyes remain the franchise cornerstones — a bedrock that's admittedly not guaranteed with Jeffrey Loria and David Samson at the helm — there will always be a reason to tune into a Marlins game for an inning or two.
