Demi Lovato makes America’s ears hurt for the second straight World Series

The rules of singing the national anthem are simple: Move the song along in a uniform manner, do not attempt half-baked impressions of Christina Aguilera, do not add any more notes and, above all, realize the song is about your country, not about you or promoting your television show.

For the second year in a row, "The X Factor's" Demi Lovato ignored all of these rules while singing the anthem in "look at me!" fashion before Game 4 of the World Series at Detroit's Comerica Park on Sunday:

Jack White was right: There really is a difference between a singer and a vocalist.

Look, Fox pays a lot of money to broadcast the World Series and so we're forever doomed to an October anthem roster consisting of glorified karaoke contest winners and people looking to extend the wonders of high school drama class. That's Fox's right, but the least the network can do is provide a number so we can vote off their "stars" for future World Series opportunities.
