David Wright hits towering blast in first at-bat back from spinal stenosis

New York Mets third baseman David Wright is back. We're not just talking about back in the lineup, either. It appears the 32-year-old didn't lose any of his skills while he was recovering from spinal stenosis.

In his first at-bat in 131 days, Wright clobbered a 90 mph fastball from Adam Morgan, sending it to the second deck in Philadelphia.

If seeing that wasn't enough, perhaps some of the figures from the blast will help convince you that Wright is feeling pretty good right now.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome.

Based on some of the reports surrounding Wright's injury, we can assume it hasn't necessarily been an easy road back for the former superstar. Spinal stenosis can end, or at least shorten, careers and there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding whether Wright would return this season.

After plenty of rest and rehab, it was determined that Wright would return Monday. Wright hit the blast with his team already down by three runs, so it may not have an impact on the outcome of the game.

After months of hard work and uncertainty, it has to feel good for Wright to get that out of his system. The Mets are in first, their captain is back and he's already capable of doing that.

All those signs point to the Mets being this year's "team of destiny." Either that, or the apocalypse is finally upon us.
