Cubs fan Eddie Vedder sadly notes that Pearl Jam tour conflicts with World Series

CHICAGO — Super fan Eddie Vedder was at Wrigley Field for Game 3 of the NLDS Monday night, just as he was in Pittsburgh for the Chicago Cubs' win in last Wednesday's wild card matchup.

But should the Cubs somehow end their World Series drought, the legendary rocker has a sad scheduling conflict. Pearl Jam begins a tour of South America later this month and so Vedder won't be able to attend any Fall Classic games if the Cubs make it that far.

Vedder, however, says he'll be more vigilant in limiting his band's fall schedule in following years with the Cubs seemingly on the brink of consistent playoff contention.

"It's been a surprise. We're touring and I have to leave before the World Series," Vedder lamented to Fox Sports Midwest. "All I'm saying is that the next few years we're not going to play in October."

Vedder told the station he knew the young Cubs were headed toward a stretch of prolonged contention, but like many fans, he thought it would start in 2016 or beyond.

Joe Maddon and Theo Epstein had other plans, he said.

"This year I didn't think we had to worry about it," Vedder said. "But I hope we go to the World Series and I hope I miss the games. It'd be a good problem to have."
