Clint Hurdle looking a lot like Joe Maddon — or is it the other way around? (Photos)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — We have a full-blown silver fox alert at baseball's winter meetings.

The mini-trend of hiring a manager with no previous major-league managing experience has been noted with Walt Weiss of the Rockies and Mike Redmond of the Marlins following the path of Mike Matheny of the Cardinals and Robin Ventura of the White Sox. But what about the concerted effort to look like Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays?

Maddon and Clint Hurdle, manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, undeniably are looking alike here at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Hurdle (on the left) is younger by three years, heavier, sporting an orange hue and has a spiky salt-and-pepper going on with his hair. Maddon's silver coiffure is almost white and a little more rugged and casual, like he just dismounted a horse from inside an old Winston cigarette ad.

We'll bring you updates on this as they warrant.
