Brewers give fans opportunity to create and direct new commercial

Last spring the Milwaukee Brewers had a lot of success with their 'Design a YOUniform' contest, which allowed fans to do just that, create a brand new uniform design. The contest drew hundreds of entries, and the Brewers ended up wearing the winning selection — designed by Ben Peters of Richfield, Minn. — during one Cactus League game in Arizona and one preseason exhibition game at Miller Park.

Based on that overwhelming response, the Brewers are once again seeking help this spring. Only this time they're raising the bar by asking fans to create and potentially direct a commercial for their 2014 marketing campaign.

Like last season, the contest doesn’t require past writing or directing experience or a finished product. They’re just seeking fun ideas while giving fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

From MLB.com:

Funny, touching, serious-it doesn't matter as long as it is awesome. Fans are invited to create and submit a storyboard with their idea at brewers.com/commercial. Entries may also be supplemented with a YouTube clip (up to 30 seconds in length) or Instagram video (up to 15 seconds in length) to further illustrate their ideas.

One winner will get the chance to direct and/or star in a spot that will play in Miller Park, on FOX Sports Wisconsin during a Brewers broadcast, and online. The winner will also receive a Brewers prize package including game tickets and a Brewers director's chair.

The contest is open to everybody, though we're pretty sure the team would prefer a Brewers fan win it. We're also sure they won't accept that Ryan Braun commercial you're piecing together in your head right now, so don't waste your time with that. On the other hand, something to do with Carlos Gomez pimping home runs and/or breaking unwritten rules might be pretty funny. Just throwing that out there.

The contest officially opened on Jan. 26 but entries will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 28, so you still have plenty of time to get involved. From there, Brewers officials will narrow the original crop down and allow fans to pick from the finalists from March 10-23. Production is scheduled to start at the beginning of the season, so clear your schedule if you're confident. The air date will be determined once production wraps up.

If you're looking for more details on how to enter and what exactly is required, visit brewers.com/commercial.

Good luck, all you wannabe directors. Your time is now!
