'Arrow' star Stephen Amell gives Josh Donaldson's All-Star campaign a superhero boost (Video)

With less than a week left in Major League Baseball's All-Star voting, we've reached peak campaign season. Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson is a deserving selection who spent virtually all of All-Star voting season in second place because of the Kansas City Royals voting juggernaut that had Mike Moustakas leading.

But now Donaldson has a superhero on his side.

Toronto-bred actor Stephen Amell, who stars in the CW series "Arrow," has lent his Green Arrow powers to the Donaldson campaign. He stars in the above video that hit the Internet on Monday morning. The video — created by David M. Jones — is a clever mash-up of the Green Arrow character and Donaldson's amazing catch last week.

Amell has actually been stumping on Donaldson's behalf for a while now, which is what a superhero is supposed to do when he sees injustice in the world. Amell has a huge Facebook following, 3.8 million people, plus another 915,000 on Twitter (both number far exceed the Royals' team accounts). So there's a good chance that a celebrity endorsement helped push Donaldson past Moustakas in the latest tally that was released Monday afternoon by MLB.

Amell and Donaldson met face-to-face for the first time Sunday, when the Blue Jays invited Amell to come out to batting practice. Proving superheroes can do it all, Amell hit a BP homer, as he promised he would if given the chance.

Your move, Royals. Anybody in Kansas City have The Flash's number handy?
