WHL's Saskatoon Blades rocking Star Wars jerseys

The Saskatoon Blades are in a playoff spot after finishing last in their conference, so that constitutes being a force awakened.

Sorry, not sorry.

With the seventh, or is it 11th, or 17th Star Wars film set to be released next month, the Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades are getting in on the phenomenon. On Nov. 28, the Blades will wear an awesomely awful or awfully awesome novelty jersey that depicts the battle scenes on the ice planet Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back. The team says the jerseys will be sold by a silent auction during the game.

Participants in a CBC News poll panned the jersey, but a specialty jersey by definition is supposed to be over-the-top and garish. Accolades to the Blades for really capturing the spirit of the thing, plus people who manage to get one of the jerseys can also have it double as a holiday sweater.

Centre Wyatt Sloboshan is the only Blade with a Han in his name, so expect him to take off on some solo rushes in that game.
