No. 1 star: Laurent Dauphin, Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL)

The 19-year-old Dauphin (2G-2A, +3) came through with a veteran effort in a matchup against Montreal Canadiens prospect Daniel Audette, highly touted Jérémy Roy and the high-scoring Sherbrooke Phoenix. Dauphin, an Arizona Coyotes prospect, kick-started the Saguenéens toward a 5-1 win over Sherbrooke by scoring a short-handed penalty-shot goal in the first period. The Repentigny, Que., native picked up his second point of the first period by setting up Samuel Hodhod for a 5-on-5 goal. Dauphin picked up another primary assist on a Landon Schiller power-play goal in the second and fired in an an unassisted goal in the third, while Audette (no points, -3) was on the ice.

No. 2 star: Mitchell Marner, London Knights (OHL)

Him again? Indeed, Marner (3G, +3) had his second hat trick in fewer than 24 hours to help the Knights pull away  from the road-weary Sudbury Wolves for a 7-2 win. The 17-year-old Marner came through with timely goals, scoring just inside of the four-minute mark of each of the first two periods as the Knights slowly imposed their will on the struggling Wolves. Christian Dvorak (3A, +4), who assisted on five of Marner's six goals over the past two games, set him up for a goal 1:26 into the thired that effectively put the game out of reach.

The win was London's sixth in a row.

No. 3 star: Nick Paul, North Bay Battalion (OHL)

The Ottawa Senators prospect had his second three-goal game of the season to help the Battalion outscore the Sarnia Sting 8-5. Uncharacteristically, the Battalion got in trading-goals mode with Sarnia and Paul (3G, +3) rose to the fore. The 19-year-old tallied a response goal exactly 60 seconds after the Sting opened scoring and also used a defender as a screen on a power-play salvo that began a Battalion comeback. Paul completed his hat trick with an empty-netter.

Honourable mention: Michael Bullion, Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

The 17-year-old Anchorage, Alaska native earned his first Western Hockey League win, stopping 32-of-33 Edmonton Oil Kings shots in a 3-1 Winterhawks victory. Bullion, who was making his second career start, came within 5:55 of a shutout before Brandon Baddock spoiled it with 5:55 left. Other than that, though, his night went about perfectly.

Potent notables — Prince George goalie Ty Edmonds made 42 saves during a 3-2 shootout win over Kamloops ... .. Tampa Bay Lightning second-rounder Dominik Masin (1G-1A) was first star in Peterborough's 6-3 win over Barrie ... Winnipeg Jets selection Jimmy Lodge's two goals helped Saginaw beat Kingston 5-2 ... Colorado Avalanche signing Spencer Martin made 32 saves for Misssisauga in a 2-1 win over Niagara ... In the QMJHL, Jets first-rounder Nikolaj Ehlers (1G-2A, +2) was in on all of the scoring during Halifax's 3-0 win over Charlottetown ... Victoriaville's Chase Marchand stopped 38-of-39 shots in a win over Rimouski.
