The Buffalo Sabres cleaned house last week, bringing in former Sabre Pat Lafontaine and former Sabre head coach Ted Nolan back into the fold to try and right the ship. With all the new (read: old) blood making the decisions, it could lead to drastic changes.

Nikita Zadorov is likely heading back to junior hockey, and Mikhail Grigorenko might be alongside him. Other youngsters, such as Johan Larsson and Rasmus Ristolainen, might be on their way to Rochester.

"We have so many young guys here, and it’s almost like going back to junior hockey in some sense," Nolan said today after practice. "Patty and I have been talking for the last three, four days about that. I didn’t realize how young they really were and the positions that they’re in and the capabilities of what they can do besides playing here. (Buffalo News)

One such change could greatly improve the Quebec Remparts heading into the December trading period.

RDS’s Stéphane Leroux reports that according to a "good source" forward Mikhail Grigorenko could be sent back to la belle province in the coming days:

If you think you’ve heard this story before, you have. Grigorenko spent a considerable amount of time with the Sabres last season, sandwiched between Remparts stints. The 19-year-old had five points in 25 games with the Sabres last year before Buffalo pulled the trigger on the move, sending Grigorenko back to the Remparts for the playoffs, where Grigorenko had 14 points in 11 games, but drew ire from his coach for his disinterested defensive play.

Grigorenko has three points in 15 games this season, and would be able to play alongside the other two Europeans the Remparts have: Fabrice Herzog and Nick Sorensen. Because Grigorenko was a first round pick, he is exempt from the European dressing rules, but only after January 10.

It could also give the Remparts another chip for building for next season, should they get the 2015 Memorial Cup. Grigorenko won’t return next season, as he would then be eligible for AHL duty. The Remparts do not have a 2014 first rounder. They could go fishing for pieces for next season, knowing this season is taken care of with Grigorenko back in the fold.

While it’s not official yet, Leroux is a very trusted source. It will make things very interesting at the Colisée Pepsi this season.
