Carolina Hurricanes pick Brock McGinn has epic shot-blocking shift (VIDEO)

There are a lot of goalies who probably don't like handling rocket shots from the Erie Otters' Dane Fox, who already has 51 goals this season, the most in major junior hockey by a fair margin.

The reason Fox is standing on 51 is because of the intestinal fortitude that the Guelph Storm's Brock McGinn, a Carolina Hurricanes draft pick and high scorer in his own right, displayed during a game last weekend.

During a power play in Guelph's eventual 1-0 win in the matchup between the Ontario Hockey League's top two teams, McGinn got a limb in the way of two of Fox's shots from the point. He was staggered by the impact, but the way McGinn was flailing and flopping despite his evident discomfort, well, all you can say is there's someone going to the wall for his teammates in a game that could be vital in the final standings.

The 19-year-old McGinn, whom the Hurricanes took in the second round of the 2012 draft, was in just his third game back after missing nearly a month to have wrist surgery. Yet there he was, laying it on the line for his teammates. Say whatever you want about the efficacy of shot blocking, but that took some brass.

McGinn has scored in every other game since rejoining the Storm's lineup; his 28 goals and 55 points over 36 games gives him the team lead in points per game on the OHL's highest-scoring team. You see the juxtaposition; stats don't lie, but the intangibles help too.
