Edmonton Oil Kings’ Mitch Moroz left out of video game for 2nd year in a row

If Mitch Moroz could only be drafted by his hometown NHL team or only have his likeness in EA Sports' NHL 13 game, he'd probably take the first option. The researchers at EA have an impossible job of trying to create and project all 60 Canadian Hockey League lineups. It's also understandable that it is easier to remember characteristics of NHL veterans than it is with teenaged juniors whom the researchers might have never seen on TV; one gamer reported that NHL 13 depicts right-handed Halifax Mooseheads wing Martin Frk as a lefty and Owen Sound Attack centre Gemel Smith appears as a white player, but is (correctly) black in his player portrait.

It happens. But omitting a second-round NHL pick. It happened to Edmonton's Mitch Moroz for the second year in a row.

From Jason Hillis:

Moroz is an NHL draft pick for crying out loud. He scored 16 goals as a rookie and added 25 points to go along with 131 penalty minutes.

"I'm not sure, maybe they forgot about me. Every kid wants to be in a video game ... I've been getting bugged by the guys pretty good," smiled Moroz.

"The guys come up to me in the dressing room, and ask me all the time 'What's your guy's rating? and I have nothing to tell them." (Edmonton Sun)

And a good laugh was had by all. Moroz is not morose about it he pointed out he can always just add himself to the game through the Be A Pro mode, although he wouldn't focus on the qualities (energy, grit) that are his best bet for turning pro in real life:

"Definitely make it unrealistic and make myself a big time skill guy ... a goal scorer, and make my shooting percentage up there."

Essentially, he can do what all sports gamers do, although to still be doing it in your mid-30s is kind of mortifying. Uh, not that BTN knows anyone who fits that description.
