The creativity of Daniel Sprong and fellow 17-year-old Kameron Kielly was in full effect for the Charlottetown Islanders.

There are major junior hockey games where it feels like either team would be hard-pressed to complete three passes in a row, let alone make four to go end-to-end like Kielly, Sprong and the Islanders did on Saturday. The tic-tac-toe-iest goal you're likely to see in the next week to 10 days included Sprong making a drop pass with his left foot to Spenser Cobbold and Kielly making a behind-the-back pass that left Sprong looking at a wide-open net. It was the first of two goals that Sprong scored in a 2-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres.

That was sweet. One almost feels a little sympathy for Victoriaville goalie Chase Marchand, who had no chance on that shot ended up getting the 'L' despite a 40-save night. There should be a little empathy for Will Thompson, too, since he didn't get an assist for that fine stretch pass.

Sprong is starting to find that optimal point in his sophomore season. The 17-year-old needed the first few weeks of the season to adjust to facing opponents' top lines and defence pairings, but he's now had five consecutive two-point games while factoring into 10-of-21 Islanders goals over that stretch. It's all about fitting into the team scheme.

Kielly, a Prince Edward Islander who's also in his first season of NHL draft eligibility, has tallied six points over that stretch.
