Texas RB scores 8 touchdowns in state title victory

Few recruiters seem to have taken notice of Shiner (Texas) St. Paul School running back Adam Hollenbach. One performance on Friday may have changed that once and for all.

As reported by the Dallas Morning News and other Texas sources, Hollenbach essentially single-handedly topped Frisco (Texas) Legacy Christian School, scoring eight touchdowns on the ground to spark a 56-43 victory. The remarkable TAPPS Division III performance totaled 308 yards on 42 carries.

"Scoring eight touchdowns is a first for me, and it happened in the best game," Hollenbach told the Morning News. "We were destined to finish out this year with a victory."

Hollenbach's touchdowns came on runs of 4, 7, 68, 4, 9, 12, 23 and 5 yards. While the junior back's scoring outburst normally should have been enough to guarantee an easy St. Paul win.

Yet Legacy Christian kept close enough to ensure that Hollenbach had to keep churning out the yards, first downs and touchdowns, eventually locking up a state title with a monumental, all-ground drive that ate their entire final 5:44 of game clock.

In retrospect, the tough running on that final drive may have been as impressive as anything Hollenbach did en route to the end zone earlier in the game. Put it all together and one gets a rather remarkable title game performance that probably won't be equaled anytime soon.
