Kentucky-bound Karl Towns may or may not have produced a quadruple-double and one broken rim in a single game

St. Joseph (Metuchen, N.J.) High center Karl Towns Jr. notched a quadruple-double and broke a rim against rival St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.), according to himself.

Towns' father told him he totaled 16 points, 17 boards, 11 blocks and "10 or 11 assists," so, as any high school junior would, he shared the news with his Twitter following.

A five-star Class of 2014 recruit as rated by Rivals.com, Towns committed to University of Kentucky coach John Calipari last month, so naturally news of his feat exploded all over Wildcats fan message boards.

However, according to the Newark Star-Ledger game story and box score, Towns totaled 16 points, 17 rebounds, seven blocks and two assists in the 82-68 victory. As everyone knows, high school box scores can be a tricky thing, but the video highlights show at least one assist and a couple fullcourt outlet passes that could be interpreted as dimes, especially when Karl Towns Sr. is doing the scorekeeping.

As for the broken rim, video didn't capture the 6-foot-10, 225-pounder's dunk and referees didn't immediately notice it askew until St. Joseph came back down the floor, according to The Mars Reel, which also covered the event. Still, Towns tweeted to his followers, "I could've broke both rims if I didn't foul out in the fourth quarter."

Regardless of whether or not the quadruple-double was legit, there are no questions about Towns' talent. He's already the youngest member of the Dominican Republic National Team, coached coincidentally (or not) by Calipari, that finished one spot shy of qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics. And if he doesn't someday make the NBA, he might have a future in broadcasting, based on his MSG Varsity interview of Kevin Durant.
