California shortstop makes remarkable rally-killing catch in sectional title game

If Winters (Calif.) High's baseball team had any hope of coming back in California's Northern Section Division III championship game, this remarkable catch squashed it and then some.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Colusa senior shortstop Riley de Wit tracked down what seemed like a surefire Winters hit in shallow left and swiped the blooper right out of nowhere to prevent any type of rally. One out later, the RedHawks celebrated a 6-2 victory and their second straight sectional title.

You've got to love the random reference from the high school baseball announcer, too: "They're going to make a movie about this guy. That was a superhero type play from de Wit."

The amazing catch may not be worth a feature length film, but it's at least worthy of a sweet GIF.
