California hoopster hits three-quarter court, buzzer-beating hook shot

Anyone interested in a three-quarter court, buzzer-beating hook shot? Why not, right?

The miracle triple you see in the video above, which was first brought to Prep Rally’s attention by USA Today, was scored by Reseda (Cal.) High sophomore Angel Saldana, who collected a loose ball and let fly just before the buzzer at the end of a quarter during a game between Reseda and Beverly Hills (Cal.) High.

Saldana scooped up the ball on a turnover, turned and had just enough time to get up a shot in the quickest motion possible. Based on his running trajectory, a hook shot was what did the trick for Saldana, who competes for the Reseda junior varsity squad.

Saldana and his teammates later had to sit through a tough loss by their varsity teammates, with Beverly Hills racing to a 63-49 home victory.

Luckily they had a heck of a memory from their own game to dwell on and bring happier thoughts, both for the night and for the rest of Saldana’s life.
