Initial thoughts
I'll be completely honest, when I first pulled out the Adams Speedline Super S fairway wood out of the box, I was unsure of the head. The Refined Crown Slot at the top of the club wasn't what caught my eye, but the "Speedline" graphics that covered the crown of the golf club. I'll be honest, I'm a traditionalist, and the new push to put graphics on top of the clubs isn't one of my favorite trends, but we all know that it is only a problem until you hit your first good shot with a new club.
The club itself is solid looking. According to Adams, "a Cut-Thru Slot in the sole of the club to create an ultra hot face for incredible ball speeds. The CT (Characteristic Time) of the face is up to 230 – the equivalent of most drivers on the market today," and setting it down on the ground I liked that the face was a bit more shallow than something like the RocketBallz three-wood.
On-course thoughts
Like I said, a club is only judged until you hit that first good shot with it. And that happened quickly with this club. And often. And long. Boy is it long.
The tagline to go along with this club is, "do I even need a driver," and after spending a couple of weeks with this club I'll tell you, I may not.
My golf swing is more of a blow down into the ball than the sweeping motion which sometimes makes shallow faced clubs tougher for me to hit, but I haven't had a single problem with this club, booming it at times as far as I can hit my driver.
And I love the workability of it. The club is easy to move, and maneuver around the golf course, and when I need to move the ball left-to-right (a draw for a lefty like myself), I'll pull the Speedline ten out of ten times.
Final Verdict
From the first day I had this club it has been in my bag and that hasn't changed. I really, really think it's as solid a three-wood as I've ever hit, and it'll take something pretty darn special to get the Speedline a spot in my closet.
If you're looking for a three-wood that's easy to hit and goes a long way, I'd go give this one a swing.
