Thursday Fantasy Fliers, Week 10: Taylor Gabriel, anyone?

If you need someone to talk you into starting Jeremy Hill on Thursday night ... well, c'mon. He's coming off a huge performance (154-2), and he's about to see a full workload against a Cleveland run defense that ranks as the NFL's second most generous, allowing 140.3 yards per game.

Hill is a layup start, as are Mohamed Sanu and AJ Green. Andy Dalton as a bye-week placeholder? Yeah, sure.

Cleveland offers far less appealing fantasy options this week, though Terrance West is on the flex radar. He out-snapped and out-played Ben Tate on Sunday, decisively. Of course the Browns' run game has been largely inert with Alex Mack sidelined by injury, so you can't necessarily expect West to binge. Let's just hope he finds the end-zone, as he did last week. Andrew Hawkins gets the green light in PPR, assuming he plays (and early reports suggest he will).

Update: Andrew Hawkins is a surprise inactive on Thursday, so get him the heck out of your lineups.

Hopefully you have better options than Brian Hoyer at QB. He's facing a Cincinnati defense that ranks among the league's stingiest in terms of yards per attempt (6.4), passing touchdowns (10) and opponents' completion percentage (58.8).

If you need a desperation heave at WR in a deep league, maybe consider the undrafted rookie wideout who caught the game-winning TD last week for Cleveland...

WR Taylor Gabriel (2 percent owned, 1 percent started)

As you can see, Gabriel is a lightly owned player, and I'll make no effort to pretend he's severely undervalued by the fantasy community. I have no shares myself, and ranked him in the mid-50s for the week at his position. Again, the Browns don't exactly have the greatest possible matchup this Thursday.

Still, Gabriel is second on the team in receiving yards (404), trailing only Hawkins, and the kid has demonstrated big-play ability on multiple occasions. He's tiny (5-foot-8, 167 pounds), but he has plenty of speed and leaping ability (40-inch vert). Gabriel caught 73 balls for Abilene Christian last season, gaining 1,060 yards and crossing the goal-line 10 times. He impressed at his pro-day, too, yet still went undrafted. The lack of talent in Cleveland's receiving corps has allowed him to emerge as a legit weapon. Playing time hasn't been an issue in recent weeks, either. Check the snaps and targets for Browns receivers over the team's past two games (via PFF):

Miles Austin, 93 snaps (7 targets, 5 receptions)
Taylor Gabriel, 84 snaps (9 tar, 7 rec)
Andrew Hawkins, 77 snaps (16 tar, 10 rec)
Travis Benjamin, 37 snaps (6 tar, 2 rec)

Gabriel has delivered 60 or more receiving yards in four of his last six games, topping 80 yards three times. If those numbers work in your league, give him a look. He's almost certainly available.
