Target Practice, Week 10: Calvin Johnson slightly damaged, still unstoppable

So it turns out that even when Megatron is operating at less than full capacity, he's still ... well, he's still the LEADER OF THE [EXPLETIVE] DECEPTICONS.

Calvin Johnson is a dangerous man, and he proved it again at Minnesota in Week 10. 'Tron drew 13 targets on Sunday, catching 12 for 207 yards, scoring a late touchdown. Not such a bad day's work. Let's recall that Calvin is still battling a left knee injury, still on a limited practice schedule, still presumably expecting to deal with pain all year.

Johnson has only visited the end zone twice this season, which is no doubt a disappointment to some of his owners, but the man is nonetheless on pace to catch 107 balls and gain 1732 yards. That'll play, with or without the TDs (which of course will come. He's been involved in a weird number of tackled-at-the-goal-line plays this year).

Over the past two weeks, 'Tron has 19 receptions on 21 targets for 336 yards, and he's reestablished himself atop the league's receiver hierarchy. (No disrespect, AJ). If you bought low during the slow weeks (7 & 8), please share your heroic story in comments, after the usual target table...

Yup, that is indeed a pair of Jaguars up near the top of the weekly target leaders: Laurent Robinson (15) and Cecil Shorts (13). Jacksonville quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne put the ball in the air a combined 47 times on Thursday night in the loss to Indy. They came out throwing, too, so we shouldn't simply attribute their high attempt total to game flow. Eight of the Jags' first 10 plays from scrimmage were passes. Shorts has been on a roll since Jacksonville's bye, averaging 5.3 catches and 89 yards per game over the last four weeks.

Danny Amendola is still available in 29 percent of Yahoo! leagues, despite relentless hype in the weeks preceding his return. That's just offensive. Let's please work together to get his ownership percentage above 90 by Friday. Thank you in advance for your support. Think I may invest in one of those fundraising thermometers that tracks progress toward our goal.

Buffalo's Donald Jones saw 10 targets against the Pats, and Chan is making noises about keeping him involved...

"Donald is starting to emerge as another weapon for us," said head coach Chan Gailey. "So you get Stevie and Donald and Scott (Chandler) and we're starting to develop some diversity where they can't just look at one thing and stop one thing, which is where we need to be."

Yeah, OK. This is coming from the guy who was going to get CJ Spiller more involved, then gave him 13 touches. So we'll see.

Not only did Marcel Reece dominate the targets (9) and the touches (20) in Oakland's backfield on Sunday, but he also played 58 snaps. Taiwan Jones? Just six. With the Saints defense on deck and Darren McFadden likely out again, Reece is definitely in the fantasy-starter discussion.

There's been a shortage of good news on Antonio Brown lately (here's some of the bad), and it's not like he was tearing it up when healthy. Useful in a PPR sort of way, sure, but not leading fantasy owners to win after win. And Pittsburgh's quarterback is apparently going to be Byron Leftwich, for an as-yet-unknown period of time. So if you're in no position to wait on an injured receiver who's tied to an injured QB, do what you've gotta do. Brown has hit the waiver wire in a few of my leagues.

Jeremy Maclin is reportedly dealing with a back strain, because he needed to reach his monthly injury quota. If you own him, hit the li'l yellow notes throughout the week. The match-up ahead is outstanding (at Was).
